This autosomal test is tailored for clients wishing to determine their African ancestry.

An African Ancestry Index (AAI) is calculated from your autosomal profile, using our database of over 100,000 DNA alleles sampled from native individuals of Africa, Europe, East Asia, India, North America and South America.

The African Ancestry Test also includes a novel X-test, with which - in certain cases - it is possible for the African ancestry test to determine whether your African input has come through your mother or through your father, or both.

Cambridge DNA Services will send you your results in the form of a certificate with your DNA profile (also called "DNA fingerprint"), including your African Ancestry Index (AAI) based on your autosomal profile.

This test is especially valuable for women who cannot take the Y-test to determine African ancestry in their paternal lineage. The test is also ideal for men and women who suspect at least partial African ancestry.

Autosomal ancestry tests are uniquely suited to screen the overall genetic input from many of your ancestors, and therefore an ideal addition to the "motherline" mtDNA test or the "fatherline" Y-test that we also offer, which can identify an individual ancestor.
